Support The NeighborHUB
Together, we can ensure McKinney remains a place where every resident can thrive—with dignity, hope, and support.
Dear McKinney City Council and MCDC Board,
Thank you for your continued leadership and commitment in supporting this grassroots initiative to uplift those in need. We are deeply grateful to the McKinney Community Development Corporation (MCDC) for recognizing the vision and value of the Collin County NeighborHUB of McKinney (NeighborHUB) — a HUB designed to advance advocacy, foster collaboration, and offer dignified support to our most vulnerable neighbors while also providing a “purpose-built” facility offering below market leases lessening the financial burden to our non-profit community.
There is a great need for a consolidated resource center—where agencies can work together instead of in silos—that promotes efficiency, reduces service gaps, and most importantly, enhances the overall well-being of our community.
McKinney is fortunate to have a robust network of health and human service providers. However, as our city grows, so do the challenges associated with coordination, duplication of efforts, and service accessibility.
Without a central point of connection, those in need are left to navigate a fragmented system during times of personal crisis; while organizations struggle with rising operational costs—rent, utilities, and logistical overhead.
Today, individuals seeking help are often forced to recount their stories repeatedly to multiple providers, confronting bureaucratic barriers instead of compassionate solutions. This advocacy center is designed to change that. By bringing services together under one roof, we can offer more efficient, respectful, and effective support.
MCDC’s 2024 investment in the NeighborHUB is a forward-thinking step toward addressing these systemic challenges. According to PNC, “a recent survey (April 2025) found that 77% of American workers are currently living paycheck to paycheck, and it’s an issue that occurs at nearly all income levels. Even if you have a steady job, rising expenses and debt may make it hard to get ahead. This common struggle often comes down to a lack of a financial cushion.” Many households are one unexpected expense away from crisis. The NeighborHUB will serve as a vital lifeline, providing access to resources and support when people need it most.
We appreciate your vision and partnership in bringing this transformative initiative to life. In 2025, this vision evolved into a larger site, a larger building, institutional partners and a sustainable ownership model. Please support the proposed amendments and this revised plan for success. Together, we can ensure McKinney remains a place where every resident can thrive—with dignity, hope, and support.
Sincerely,
The Collin County NeighborHUB at McKinney
